Short Course: Parenting Skills for Adoptive Families: Training for Trainers Courses
Coram Family Adoption Service and the Anna Freud Centre have collaborated to produce Parenting Skills for Adoptive Families, an innovative and effective parenting skills programme that addresses the specific issues facing adoptive families, and which has been successfully researched and piloted with groups of adopters.
This programme builds on the widely used 'Incredible Years' parenting skills training package by Professor Carolyn Webster-Stratton of the University of Seattle.
In addition, it draws on an understanding of adoptive children's experience of damaged attachments and the consequent challenges facing adopters in parenting these children.
